MISSION STATEMENT

60 Million Plus(+) Theater's (60M+) mission is to present and preserve obscured classics and cutting edge plays. Although we emphasize a particular interest in African American playwrights, we are culturally diverse, and support playwrights of all heritages and cultural backgrounds. Our goal is to celebrate the common thread of mankind made visible through the art form of drama and literature that is steeped in history.
HISTORY

Founded in 2010 by Robert Henry Johnson, 60M+ is fiscally sponsored by the African American Art and Culture Complex (AAACC) where the company is a resident organization. 60M+'s inaugural season was presented at Sheba Lounge and Marcus Books located in the classic Fillmore jazz district in San Francisco. The season consisted of three staged readings of new, original and unproduced plays by Sharif Ab-Hamdeh, Fannie Lee Lowe and Robert Henry Johnson. In 2011, the company founded its premiere festival Post Afric Highways, a play reading series which features plays written by African Americans who write in the experimental form, in the Sargent Johnson Gallery at AAACC. This year,  the company has produced two new playwrights festivals, 60M+ Spring Playwrights Festival and Flash/Create in collaboration with Lush Life Gallery.
